Alone in a Crowded Bar

Updated: Oct 11, 2020

In this sound project, I wanted to recreate the atmosphere of being alone in a crowded bar. In a crowded bar, there are a lot of noises such as TV shows playing in the background, groups of friends talking amongst themselves, sports fans shouting during games, and various others. I oriented this composition so it felt as if the listener was in the perspective of the lonely person in the bar. I transitioned the person through various rooms in the bar from the kitchen to the bathroom and ultimately, leaving to take a smoke.

CRITIQUES:

RIA- I think you did well with the fading of the sounds in and out as well as conveying the theme of loneliness. I think there could have been a more dramatic climax.

VANCE- I loved the overall composition you’ve created, and I think you did great at differentiating the different parts of the song. I think you could have done a clock sound or something time related to incorporate the time machine aspect.

ALLIE- I think you did a great job at putting the listener in the perspective of the person walking around. It was difficult to understand the theme you were trying to convey, but after your explanation it made sense

LAURYN- The political soundclips you used gave this pece a really unique vibe. I did not totally understand the theme, but it made sense once you explained it.

ZACK- I think you did a good job conveying the creepy theme. I think there could have been a more dynamic climax.

CONNER- You did a good job taking the listener throughout various destinations. I think the transitions could have been more broken up.

SIDNEY- I liked the dynamic parts that made up this composition. The theme was conveyed once you explained it.

BEN- You created a nice tempo with occasional breaks of relief. It did get a bit repetitive, but it makes sense with your theme.
